Extremely Dangerous Weather Heading To Amarillo This Weekend
Everyone has been talking about the incoming arctic blast headed for Amarillo this weekend, and the closer we get to it the worse the forecast seems to get. Not only is there a decent chance for more snow, the temperatures are going to be dangerously low.
Frostbite And Hypothermia Risks This Weekend In Amarillo
As updates keep coming out regarding the arctic blast heading our way this weekend, the projected risks keep getting worse. Lows are supposedly going to be in the teens and single digits. Today, the National Weather Service Amarillo put out some information regarding the windchill we could have and the risks that come with it.
According to the information they put out there for us all to see, frostbite and hypothermia are potential concerns. Extended exposure to the brutally cold windchill could be detrimental to your health.
They're currently forecasting windchill below zero degrees at times. The best chance for these brutal temps, as of now, is early Tuesday.
If You Have To Be Outside, Protect Yourself
The best thing to do is stay inside. Find a warm spot and chill. If you have to be outside, make sure you dress in plenty of layers and cover as much as possible. You don't want to be out in these temps with exposed skin.
If we get snow, you know it will freeze in these temperatures. If you have to travel at all during this nightmare, be sure to plan ahead and have an emergency kit on hand in case you get stranded. Keep an eye on updates regarding the forecast for this weekend. Hopefully, something changes and it isn't as bad as it sounds like it's going to be.
