Residents complained of milky oily substance floating in the water. Turns out a company has been caught illegally dumping their product in the water.

We have all heard the phrase, 'Don't Mess with Texas'. Usually this pertains to dumping trash on Texas highways. However, we need to remind people they can't just dump whatever they want in Texas. Looks like Houston for the past several months has been investigating a weird material in the water after residents complained back in April. Plants started dying along the waterway and experts believe this could have been a threat to wildlife. What is the weird substance?

A company called Immacule Lab makes different beauty products in the Houston area. It looks like in April a batch of their 'Hemp After Sun' lotion didn't come out so great and had an irregular smell to it. The company could not sell the product as is, so they decided to trash it. They allegedly dumped 100 gallons of the lotion into the White Oak Bayou according to ABC 13.

Houston Constable Shares Photos of the Damage

Obviously the lotion isn't going to mix in with the water and the bad product floated along the surface of the bayou. The authorities are planning on charging Immacule Labs for illegal dumping in the state of Texas. If found guilty, it is a felony offense. It comes with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The Environmental Crimes Division with Constable Precinct 1 continues to investigate according to Chron.
