A recent study ranked the deadliest roads in the United States. It turns out, one of the deadliest is right here in North Texas. 

I often complain about the drivers in this neck of the woods. Don’t get me wrong, I’m far from perfect. But it’s the little things that drivers neglect that really grind my gears.

Bad Driving Habits in North Texas

For instance, using a turn signal isn’t an option, but you would sure think it was when driving around Wichita Falls. I grew up in Vernon, and let me tell you, the police out there would pull you over and give you a ticket in a heartbeat for not using a turn signal. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Also, I see someone behind the wheel staring at their phone every single day. In fact, I usually see folks breaking that law multiple times each day. That’s why I would rather ride my bicycle on a trail rather than on the city streets. I just don’t trust drivers not to be distracted. 

I could go on and on about people’s bad driving habits, but I’ll give it a rest. Chances are good that you feel the same way I do, and there’s no point in preaching to the choir.

The Deadliest Road in North Texas Revealed  

You came here to find out which North Texas road is among the deadliest in the country, and that would be McCart Avenue in Fort Worth, according to CPR First Aid: 

“McCart Avenue in Tarrant County recorded 10 fatal crashes and 11 deaths over 3.02 miles, ranking 16th nationally with 3.31 crashes per mile.” 

So, if you fancy yourself a good defensive driver, you’ll want to be a little extra defensive the next time you find yourself on McCart Avenue.
