Dasher Diary: Dashing Can Really Be a Thankless Job in Amarillo
When you sign up to be a Dasher here in Amarillo you know that you are an independent contractor. Which means you are your own boss and you work when you want to. You don't have to be worried about a boss being mad at you. Or so I thought.
Recently I talked about a delivery where the customer gave me the wrong address. On that delivery, she offered to tip me a lot to bring her the food.

In the end I did not take the over tip. I did keep some of the money. I thought it was the right thing to do since I did waste a lot of time. So, yes I should have received an extra tip but not $40. That didn't seem right.
Want to Know the Thanks I Got For All of That?
I woke up a few days later with a contract violation from DoorDash. What? That was my first one in over a year of delivering. Oh, and what does that mean? Well that I did something wrong that was against my contract. Of course, DoorDash doesn't really tell you what you did wrong. You have to figure it out for yourself.
You have a chance to fight the violation, which is what I did. See when the delivery happened and I knew it was going to take a long time I called DoorDash. I told them that the customer gave me the wrong address and asked me to deliver to the new place. I told them.
So to get a contract violation made me mad. I was able to figure out that the violation was on this delivery and they were mad it took so long so much for not having a boss get on to me. It seems like I just did.
So I filled out the form and told them about the customer giving me the incorrect address. I told them that I called DoorDash and warned them. It seemed like a lot of work to clear my name.
If you get a contract violation they could deactivate your account. I did not want that. I was free to continue delivering until they reached a decision. That didn't matter I was out on Christmas vacation anyway. So a day later I received notification that the violation was removed.
OK, so I was not going to get my account deactivated but it should have never gone that far since I did call them right away. Sometimes really DoorDash can really get on your nerves.
Here is to a successful 2025 of deliveries and no contract violations.
