Customers Question Missing Devices After Battery Joe Closure
Shocking things happen all the time in Amarillo, and many times it's a business that shuts its doors out of nowhere. Recently, the Battery Joe locations in Amarillo did that. One day they were open, the next they weren't.
Normally, we'd all look at that and say that's a bummer. Maybe it was your go-to spot for batteries, or you took devices there to fix issues with them. We had my son's phone screen replaced there once, and they did a great job. We did have to leave it with them to fix it, and it turns out, there could be a bit of an issue with devices that were in their possession.
What Happened To Battery Joe
When a business randomly closes its doors, many immediately ask, what happened? Typically, the bills begin to outweigh the profits coming in. I know, that's an obvious answer. There's a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff, though, that we don't typically know about. Loans they've taken out to stay afloat, mismanagement of money, etc. Well, I found a Facebook post that may have shed a little light.
Keep in mind, this is pure speculation on behalf of others commenting. One of the commenters said they were an employee there, and according to them, they were told the owner was $500,000 in debt and had to shut the doors. Again, speculation, and this is not confirmed info, but being in debt is indeed the fastest way to see a business shut down.
Devices Left To Be Repaired In Question
Back to the devices they fix. We're talking phones, tablets, and more. There's no telling how many devices were with them to be fixed when the doors shut. Normally, customers will get a phone call saying they need to come pick them up. However, according to the same Facebook post, none of that happened, and customers are now left figuring out how to get those back.
The OP of the Facebook post stated they had no way to contact the owner, and started the post as a way to see if anyone knew how to get those back. Frustrated by being unable to get the info needed, they went to a pawn shop to just buy a new tablet. That's when the OP stated she ended up finding HER tablet that she took in for repair at the pawn shop. Again, I stress, this is an unconfirmed comment, but there are ways to tell if it's yours.
As for what's next or how this is all going to unfold, we don't know, but you can bet we're going to be keeping an eye on it.
