It's Friday night in Amarillo, and it's been a long week at work. You just want to get away, escape from reality, spend a little time catching up with your spouse, and have a couple of drinks. Unfortunately, most places to get a drink are loud and lively, which isn't conducive to having good conversation without yelling.
You just want a place that's relatively quiet and laid back. Somewhere you can speak at a normal volume and decompress from the long week. The question is, are there any places like that here? Paramount Recreation Club
Located in the basement of the Barfield, Paramount Recreation Club is a nice, quiet spot with that intense laid-back vibe that will allow you to relax and talk. Some light music is possible, but nothing so loud you have to shout over it.
It shouldn't be overrun by younger people with a ton of energy looking to have too many drinks, and there are no kids running around the place either. Highly recommend, especially if you want to get a little dressed up and make it a true date night.
Crush Wine Bar & Grill
Here's a place where you can have it all, honestly. Downstairs at Crush is the dining area where you can have a phenomenal meal, and it's mellow and reserved. Head upstairs to the patio, and you can hang out in the little bar area if you are starting to find a little energy and want to turn up a bit.
My recommendation? Head outside to the upstairs rooftop patio. Incredible views, spacious, and with tables or seating areas, you can lounge and chat. To me, it's one of the best spots to go for a quiet, relaxed evening out.
Public House
Don't feel like making the trek downtown? I got you. Public House on Coulter & 34th is a perfect little spot to go. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, you'll find a very relaxed, elegant setting inside where it never gets loud.
They have a great selection of wines and different drinks you can sip on, some incredible menu items to munch on, while being able to feel like royalty for a bit and have the decompression time you need.
