Yesterday, I was scrolling through Facebook at home and saw someone post an interesting question about a business in Amarillo. They were asking if the business had randomly closed down. it was a legitimate question because there have been a lot of rumors about it lately.

That business is the Dunkin' Donuts on Western, and things have been a bit spotty there over the past few months.

Closed Or Open

Yesterday, Google was showing that the location was temporarily closed, spurring rumors that it wasn't coming back. Several months ago, there was talk that it could potentially disappear at the end of the year due to a video stating the location they were posting up in would be available in January 2026.

According to a comment on the Facebook post, a person stating they were an employee there said that they were indeed closed, but it was only temporary and that they'd be opening back up in a day or two.

Why Was The Dunkin' Closed

According to the same employee in their comment, it came down to having issues with staffing, mainly. Other users started mentioning how only the drive-thru had been open and that the lobby always seemed to be closed. That would line up with being short-staffed. Most places can't handle the lobby AND the drive-thru if there aren't enough employees.

When they do re-open, it appears they'll be open until around 4 pm each day, but no word on whether or not it'll be the drive-thru only, or if the lobby will be open as well. According to a Google search today, it says that it's open, but you won't know for sure until you go.
