It's always a good day when faith in humanity is restored.  Amarillo is a truly great community.  When something happens we always come together to help our fellow Amarilloian.  Recently, a situation happened where Amarillo people showed their true loving colors.

One of the great things about social media is the reach it has to people in a community. A post on the Ask Amarillo Anything Facebook Page shows the kindness of Amarillo people.

Mom Lindsey posted on January 12th that her son lost a $50 bill in the parking lot of the Walmart on Coulter.   She explained that it fell out of his pocket when he was helping to load the car.  She explained that he had earned this money helping to shovel the snow from an elderly neighbor's driveway and sidewalks.

I know it's a long shot, but I have to try

I applaud Lindsey for making an effort to see if there was a chance somebody found it and would be honest and return it to her son.

Losing Money is a Hard Lesson Learned

Once posted the comment section blew up with people talking about how it was a hard lesson learned.

Remember the sinking feeling you get when you lose money? Her son was experiencing that very feeling, and it was truly devastating. It is hard for an adult, can you imagine how hard that would be for a child?  Losing money is a hard lesson to learn.

Others jumped on thinking this was a scam.  However, many people jumped on and said that they found the money and wanted to get it back to them.

That right there shows the true kindness of the people in Amarillo.

These are the people who know how devastating it is to lose money, and they want to help this little boy.

Now, Lindsey made it clear that they didn't just want money from people, even the ones who offered the $50.  They were hoping to find the person who actually found the money.

Was the Money Lost in the Walmart Parking Lot Ever Found?

Yes!  The person who found the money reached out to Lindsey and was able to return it.  She knew this was the founder because they had a text to prove it.  Apparently, her daughter had sent a text message saying she had found a $50 bill at Walmart around the same time it was lost.

It's exciting to know that Lindsey's son was able to get his hard-earned money back, but more than that, I'm glad he was able to learn about the kindness and honesty of people in Amarillo.  Not only that, he was able to see how many people were willing to step up to make sure he got his money back, regardless if they found it or not.

We live in a world where most people would have just picked up the money and pocketed it thinking "It's my lucky day," and not think twice about it even reading it on Facebook, posting, "their loss".

It is good to know that Amarillo is still full of good people with kind hearts!
