Amarillo's Polk Street over the years has had a great nightlife.   It has had multiple choices of clubs to enjoy a drink or dance the night away.  Many Amarillioans enjoy memories of partying on Polk Street and have nostalgic "remember when" conversations.  Now a whole new generation is making memories of their own that they may or have a hazy memory.

The landscape of Polk Street has changed over the years, but the nightlife is still strong.  Over the years many bars have come and gone and one of those locations is 715 S. Polk.

The current club is Chesney's Whiskey Saloon.  However, that could soon be changing.

What is Happening at Chesney's Whiskey Saloon?

A Facebook post on January 7th hinted that the band scheduled would be the last country band ever at Chesney's Whiskey Saloon.

Last Country Band Weekend Ever for Chesneys Saloon. Jack Cryver Band LIVE all weekend!!! Come show some love and get your last two stepping in at Chesneys.  Thanks for all ur support for the last 4 years!!!

That was the last post that was made, and nothing was said to hint at what this club may be changing to, or that it would be changing.   However this wouldn't be the first time, this location changed.  In fact, the change may add to the curse of 715 S. Polk.

We reached out to the club to see what was happening, and the changes that are coming, but at the time of publication, we had yet to receive a response.  If and when we receive any new information we will update this article.

In the meantime, it's safe to say, get ready for something new in Downtown Amarillo.

Amarillo Cursed Buildings - 715 S. Polk

Polk Street is a great place to spend an evening. However, over the years, Polk Street has seen many businesses come and go. One of these buildings is at 715 S. Polk. It has been many things over the years, mainly bars, but it seems as soon as one moves in, it moves right out.

So what all has been in there? Let's take a look back at 715 S. Polk.

This building was originally built in 1915, it was known as The Hollywood.

Amarillo Buildings That Seem To Be Cursed: 2601 6th Avenue - The Concrete Island

It's time for another edition of Amarillo's Cursed Buildings.  The building we are focusing on is the building located on a concrete island at 2601 6th Avenue. It's that little island that's squeezed in where Georgia meets 6th.

Amarillo's Cursed Buildings – Historic Route 66, 2813 SW 6th

There are some places around town that just can't seem to stay in business for very long. This is one of them.

The address of the cursed building is 2813 SW 6th Street. This building was originally built in 1930. This place was originally a service station. I'm sure in the heydays of Rt. 66, this place was the place to stop to get your car serviced. However, in the last 15 years, this building has seen many different faces.
